Doctor Andrew Turk
For the past decade, Andrew has been one of Australia's leading researchers in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI) and visualisation. He has helped to organise Australian HCI conferences, has been an invited guest at international workshops, and regularly reviews international journal articles and conference papers.
Since 1993 Dr Turk has worked at the School of Information Technology, Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. His teaching, graduate student supervision, research and consulting activities concern: the design and evaluation of computer applications (e.g. user interfaces and websites); ethnographic methods and socio-technical methodologies for developing information systems and cultural and ethical considerations. Currently his research concentrates on human factors aspects of interactive television and Ethnophysiography, the study of cultural and linguistic aspects of conceptions of landscape. He has also been active in research and practical projects enhancing sustainability of Indigenous communities.
